Working Towards Open Science              

What we do

We build a cross-disciplinary community of practice for researchers at the University of Bonn who makes Open Science visible and tangible. The community rewards and supports Open Science practioners at the University of Bonn by providing visibility, recognition and (knowlege) resources, tools and experience.

What we want

We work towards a research culture where Open Science is the standard way of doing science, and “closed science” is considered an exception that requires justification.

We aim for a research culture in which infrastructure and research communities work hand in hand, where researchers at all career stages receive early and continuous support for Open Science practices, and where openness is recognised as a driver of quality, innovation and societal impact.

How we get there

• We connect researchers across disciplines to share knowledge, tools and experience.
• We support and reward Open Science practices through visibility, recognition and access to resources.
• We develop guidelines, trainings and best-practice examples to make Open Science accessible at all career stages.
• We foster bottom-up exchange that informs institutional strategies, policies and progress.
• We provide a platform to test and explore Open Science tools and practices.

How we work together 

The Open Science Community Bonn (OSCB) is part of the International Network of Open Science and Scholarship Communities (INOSC). As such, we follow shared Guiding Principles and adhere to a Code of Conduct that ensures an open, inclusive and respectful environment for all participants.

Our activities are based on mutual respect, inclusivity and constructive exchange. We encourage critical discussion of Open Science practices while respecting diverse perspectives, experiences and workflows.
